A penetration test, sometimes pentest, can be a method of evaluating computer and network safety by simulating an attack on a laptop or computer technique or network from external and internal threats. The method involves an active evaluation in the system for any possible vulnerabilities that could outcome from poor or improper program configuration, both identified and unknown hardware or software flaws, or operational weaknesses in procedure or technical countermeasures. This evaluation is carried out from the position of a possible attacker and may involve active exploitation of security vulnerabilities.
