Mental health professionals can be tremendous support to those individuals who are experiencing kundalini awakening and unfolding, if they are transpersonally oriented and have experiential as well as traditional knowledge of the kundalini process. It is equally important for mental health professionals to develop cross cultural competencies and understandings of the common truths, practices and understandings across paths when attempting to provide counseling and support. It is also essential to have an openness to questioning one's diagnosis of psychological disorders when working with individuals with awakened kundalini.
