Keywords
Keywords are the root of the whole stuff. Deciding on the right keywords will decide the achievement or failure of the SEO. Not having suitably delineated keywords at all begs the question, what are you optimising for?
When finally you’ve selected your primary and secondary keywords, proceed through your web sitecopy and ensure they seem each now and again. There’s no really need to make it read strangely (after all, people see your site as well as search engines) but if you can actually swap a word or phrase with one that contains your primary keyword, do it.
The same goes for internal links. As opposed to generic ‘click here to view our services’ type anchor text, go for mare like a ‘find out more about our SEO services‘.
Meta-data
Having firm on your keywords, it’s time to look at your meta-data. You should guantee that every page has:
A distinctive title tag
A unique meta-description
Alt tags on every image
Title tags on every image
Remember that meta-descriptions show up within the SERPs so they need to read obviously, but including keywords is main. Likewise, title tags should include keywords but still indicate what the page is. Put the keyword before your organisation name e.g. ‘SEO Edinburgh | <company name>’
